I was VJing on nightshift yesterday. Great setup and an amazing lineup (in case you like electronic music) featuring the Gorillaz Sound System, Zombie Nation, Sister Bliss and the local (but awesome) hero Maxwell George.
GSS had their own Video and Lightingcrew with them, which gave us time to watch the act and relax a bit before a long night of work. Their visuals were truly amazing. They used an uncountable amount of different sources (ok it was quite countable, 2 Beamers in the Back, 2 Barcos at the FOH, and several what-ever-it-was-projectors) to show a mix of original Gorillaz visuals. Nicely done! I was disappointed by the music thou. The DJ was a beast, but could not save the whole act, singers were lame, percussion superfluous. A nice example to show that the drugs don’t work all the time.
After a 30 min changeover our nightshift began, my turn to play with the Barco cluster. Zombie Nation and Sister Bliss were not my case neither, luckily Maxwell George saved the night in the end.

Oh and there’s one more thing. We had a GrandMA … and guess who was the Champion of the night? Yes! I took revenge on the the sound guy! He had no chance at all to beat me!

While I’m writing this post, still tired as hell, I prepare myself for the next job tonight. It should be a routine thing, a show we’re doing for about three and a half years by now, and that is on stage every saturday since 15th september. But tonight everything is different … I have, for the first time ever, a Hog iPC to control the Video servers … hooray! So instead of using the preprogrammed show, or the “Hog – one operator – no brainer – easy going – show” I’ll have to start form scratch.
Goodnight!
