or … I still haven’t heard what I was hoping for

Last night I saw the 4th 360° Show on my personal 360°Tour in London. Amazing night! what a Location, what a band, what a crowd. Unfortunately “Mysterious ways” didn’t make it onto the setlist … again. This time I was standing at quite the same place as in Gelsenkirchen 2 weeks ago. Great view, great feeling.

Still looking for Mysterious ways.

Everything about the lighting and the stage has been said in the previous post about the concert in Paris an Amsterdam. This was the first one, I was from the Front of Stage side. Quite a view … different experience again.

The Hotel Cristall is a 3 star hotel in the center of Cologne, Germany. The location is hard to find by car but easily reachable by foot (as long as you find the Dom). It has no parking lot and available parking space on the road near the hotel is limited. Nevertheless, there are some large parking lots in a 600m radius available.

The personnel at the reception was kind and friendly, the welcome very pleasant. I had a “standart” room (84 available) which was clean and tidy, not very spacy, but had everything you need (TV / Minibar). The roomcolor was a bit unusual though, the green walls remembered one of a hospital or a mental clinic :-)
Breakfast was included an quite good. (Yeah I got up early for once)

All in all a nice place to stay if you just need a room to sleep and a breakfast. Nothing fancy and not a place I would book for a longer stay. The prices are very reasonable.

Due to an enormous amount of work, i could not find neither the time nor the inner peace to concentrate on my paperwork so I took some days of and went into a sort of conclave :-)

The short trip led me to a small village named “Schluchsee” located in the heart of the Black Forrest in southern Germany. I knew the hotel since my childhood when I spend many holidays at this place. The “Vier Jahreszeiten am Schluchsee” (Four seasons at Schluchsee) is a upper class Sport and Family hotel, not the top luxury house, but very neat and comfortable. A great feature is the quite cheap internet access. An incredible bargain at 5 euros a day.

During the relaxing time I had the opportunity to shot some pictures, have a look.

… where the geeks & nerd meet.

The World Cyber Games finals where hosted this year in Cologne, which is a 2 hour ride form my hometown, so I could not let pass the opportunity to see that once in my life. What shall I say … it is as you imagine, thousands of geeks watching the ubergeeks.

These pro gamers, build a base in WC3, grind their heroes, attack, destroy, build creatures faster, then I can double-click the icon to start the game. The counter-strike games are that fast, that I don’t even realize what could have been happening. (Guy runs around a corner, no one there, guy dead, screen black in less than a second?) And don’t get me started on the guitar hero players.

The sponsors village was not a big thing. Try out possibilities were at the X-Box booth, free giveaways were rare food was expensive. All in all a fun experience, but nothing you have to see every year.

Cologne on the other hand was great as always, even if they were already preparing the beginning of their stupid carnival.

After spending half my weekend in a marvelous Audi Q7 (I love that car!) on my way to the Fury farewell show I spend half my evening on the way to a Coldplay show yesterday. Thanks to the mother of all traffic jams followed by the mother of all parking lot searches I missed the support act (does anyone know who played?) and was even close to missing the show. (Evil german roads!)

What a show! They had every show effect available on the market! ALL of them!

Moving curtains to start smooth, lasers, awesome video spheres, a 4-Barco Cluster, moving grids and last but not least the most impressive confetti lunch (actually it was more of a continuous never ending rain) that I’ve ever seen. But without all the bells and whistles, there was not much Coldplay left. Sound was close to awful and a 90 minute show might be enough but I felt like something was missing.

Positive thing is that I didn’t like the new album before the show and now can’t stop listening to it. Well done guys.

Maybe they are pushing the show part to much, maybe I’m too much in love with club gigs, maybe I was ina bad mood because of the freaking traffic jam. Doesn’t matter, if you have the chance to see them, buy a ticket! :)

I spend my weekend in Hannover, to say goodbye to one of the coolest Bands I know, or knew. After more than 20 Years the Furys will leave us but won’t retire yet. The last show was quite emotional even though the setlist was quite the same as for the rest of the tour.

We saw a whole set of the greatest Fury Hits, an unplugged Set in the middle of the crowd and a crowd-surfing, overweight german TV Star.

Won’t forget these days, and I never thought I would!

One more thing. The king is dead, long live the king. It might be Fury in the Slaughterhouse’s end, but there was also a reunion. Hannover needs at least one decent Rockband and therefore Terry Hoax are back together.

The man you see in this picture is the famous explorer Prof. Piwitsch, who discovered the secret of Tutankhamun during one of his research trips to egypt. Or it is the guy who simply beat me in the Tutankhamon Challange, an interaktive darkride at Walibi Belgium (scores below)

The second mystery we faced today, was the riddle of the green tides. While I refused to participate in water-rides today (after my cold day – wet clothes experience at the Boobejaanland earlier this year) i saw this boat pass. I wonder where the passenger went. And I seriously hope that none of them had contact with the neat clean water ;-)
